Spelling Bee participants from brenau What's New in the humanities:
Several of our English majors, Candice Snow, Kyleigh Wright, Jordan Jones, and Mallory Hicks (as an alternate) took part in the annual Spelling Bee Tuesday night.  While the Brenau team did not win, they did do exceptionally well and we're proud of them.  Click thumbnail to enlarge.

Dr. James Southerland
Professor and Chair, Department of Humanities

I invite you to examine our excellent programs in the Department of Humanities. Majors include English, History-Political Science, International Relations, Conflict Resolution and Legal Studies, and Nonprofit Leadership. We are very excited about the new B.A. in Nonprofit Leadership program offered on the Atlanta campus in the Evening and Weekend College. In addition, we are particularly proud on our Conflict Resolution Mock Mediation team which won the National Mock Mediation National Championship in 2002. We have an outstanding faculty who use innovative and creative methods of instruction in the classroom. They are dedicated to helping students reach their potential. If I can be of assistance to you, please let me know. I can be reached by telephone at (770) 534-6179, and by e-mail at
jsoutherland@brenau.edu.

The Department of Humanities, part of the School of Fine Arts and Humanities, affords each student opportunities to:

Did you know that...

"...70% of the CEOs (Chief Executive Officers) of Fortune 500 companies have a liberal arts undergraduate degree and that the two majors most represented in this elite group are history and political science" ? (from Steven Majstorovic's paper for the International Studies Association Meeting, February 22-25, 2001)
