You’re the sort of person who gets excited at the prospect of new knowledge. You want to better understand the world around you, whether you’re absorbing works of literature, examining historical events or learning about other cultures. As a student in Brenau’s Humanities Department, you’ll learn in an open-minded environment where we embrace different perspectives and explore creative ideas. Our professors, who all have terminal degrees, will equip you with the tools to think critically and express yourself clearly, so you can succeed in a variety of career settings.

Why Brenau Humanities?

The Elixir

Regardless of their major, Brenau students have the opportunity to showcase their work in creative writing and the visual arts in The Elixir, the university’s annual published literature and arts magazine. Students are welcome to submit more than one piece with written submissions no longer than 1,000 words. All writers and artists retain their copyrights.

Intercollegiate Mediation Team

Since the exercise began in 1999, Brenau University’s Intercollegiate Mediation Team has been an active participant in college mediation tournaments, which draw students from across the world. Brenau won the mediation title in 2002 and 2014, and has frequently finished in the top 10 in mediation.
