Performance Spaces

Pearce Auditorium

Pearce Auditorium is a 700-seat, 19th century opera house.

In addition to its wide usage by local groups and many Brenau University events, Pearce Auditorium had been the site of many famous speakers. Helen Keller, Will Durant, Ted Shawn, Ruth St. Dennis, Martin Luther King Sr., Letitia Baldridge, Robert Peters, Williams Warwick, Dan Rather, Jane Fonda, and Maria Von Trapp spoke or performed in Pearce.

The annual “Evening of Dance” student concert and Gainesville Ballet Company productions featuring Brenau University dancers frequently take place on this stage.

Hosch Theatre

Opened in 2002, the Hosch Theatre is the largest performance space in the John S. Burd Center for the Performing Arts. Named after its donor, Mary Helen Roop Hosch, the theater offers seating for an audience of approximately 350.

Walters Theatre on the Square

The Brenau Downtown Center is an event facility operated by Brenau University as part of the Downtown Gainesville Campus on the edge of Gainesville’s bustling downtown square. The venue features the Charles D. Walters Theatre on the Square, a 300-seat performing arts theatre, which completes the facility with its elegant setting for plays, pageants, and dance performances.
