The Spencer Educational Foundation has awarded a grant to Brenau University’s College of Business and Communication to support the travel of six students and a faculty member to the upcoming RISKWORLD 2025 Conference in Chicago.
Dean of the College of Business and Communication Shatrela Washington-Hubbard, P.h.D, shared her appreciation for the foundation.
“I am excited that another cohort of our students will have the opportunity to experience the RISKWORLD conference thanks to Spencer’s generosity,” she said. “The conference provides networking opportunities for our students in addition to enhancing their knowledge in the fields of risk management and insurance.”
The Spencer Educational Foundation was established in 1979 by the Atlanta chapter of the Risk and Insurance Management Society (RIMS) and is the leading organization funding the education of tomorrow’s risk management and insurance leaders. The Foundation supports the development of RMI education in institutions across the U.S. and Canada and aims to foster a diverse talent pipeline into the RMI industry by creating scholarship, internship, and mentorship opportunities for students.
Assistant Professor of Management, and Program Director for the BBA in Risk Management and Insurance Monica Heidesch, Ph.D., will travel alongside the selected students, as she did for the 2024 Conference in San Diego, California.
“We are very, very appreciative of the support,” Heidesch said. “RISKWORLD is such an impressive event to attend. Thanks to Spencer, our students get to learn even more about the Risk Management and Insurance industry, shadow risk professionals, and build their peer and professional networks, gaining valuable experience within the world of RMI.”
RISKWORLD is an annual risk management convention in the U.S. where attendees can network with top experts, gain actionable insights, and develop proactive strategies. As the largest gathering of global risk professionals, RISKWORLD 2025 is expecting over 11,000 attendees and offering more than 100 sessions on trending topics for professional development.
