Brenau named a ‘2026 Great College to Work For’

Brenau University has been recognized as one of the best higher education institutions to work for in the United States. It is one of only two schools in Georgia to earn this honor.

The results, released Sept.18 at GreatCollegesList.com and in a special insert of The Chronicle of Higher Education, are based on a survey of 171 colleges and universities. In all, 76 of those institutions achieved “Great College to Work For” recognition for specific best practices and policies.

Brenau won honors in two categories this year: Supervisor/Department Chair Effectiveness and Faculty & Staff Well-being.

“At Brenau, our legacy of excellence isn’t just a tradition – it is a daily reality created by our remarkable faculty and staff,” Brenau President David L. Barnett said. “I am inspired by the way our team lives out our mission, challenging our students to pursue extraordinary lives while supporting one another in a spirit of true collaboration. My commitment is to ensure Brenau remains a place where we flourish together, building a thriving future for our entire community.”

The survey results are based on a two-part assessment process: an institution questionnaire that captures employment data and workplace policies from each institution and a survey administered to faculty, administrators and professional support staff. The primary factor in deciding whether an institution received recognition was the employee feedback.

The Great Colleges to Work For program is one of the largest and most respected workplace-recognition programs in the country. ModernThink, a strategic human capital consulting firm, administered the survey and analyzed the results.

“This year’s recognized institutions know that institutional success is not possible without the positive impact of their people,” Richard K. Boyer, chief culture strategist at ModernThink, said. “They understand the success of their students is tied to the experience and success of their faculty and staff.”
