Spring Showcase of the Arts highlights CAD programs

Participants in the Spring Showcase of the Arts show off their large print of a goddess

Brenau’s Center for the Arts & Design held its first Spring Showcase of the Arts on Friday, April 22, with students, alumni and faculty. High school students from North Forsyth, Gainesville and Chestatee also joined in on the fun, watching a student-led dance performance and participating in printmaking, needle felting and pottery glazing.

“We have some really cool programs,” said Claudia Wilburn, CAD director and Art & Design Department chair. “If I can do things like this to spread the word to get people to show up and do some fun things, then it’s gold.”

The Center for the Arts & Design was established in 2018 as a collaboration of Brenau’s Art & Design Department — comprised of studio art, fashion design and fashion merchandising programs — the Interior Design Department and Brenau University Galleries. Brenau’s Music and Dance departments joined CAD in 2021.

The center aims to promote interdisciplinary cooperation and further greater access to academic programs and professional development opportunities for students, faculty and the Brenau community.
