Brenau Galleries goes live on Instagram

Gallery Director Nichole Ferguson chats with "L.A. Stories" curator Paul Paiement and artist Hagop Najarian

This spring, the Brenau University Galleries embarked on a new programming adventure: Instagram Live. COVID-19 brought many challenges and pivots for the 2020-2021 exhibition season, and one thing that developed to support remote community engagement was a Brenau Galleries Instagram account. With over 650 followers at the time of writing, the Instagram account has become a hub for Galleries activity and community interaction.

In April and May, @BrenauGalleries hosted a series of seven Instagram Live sessions with artists from our exhibition L.A. Stories. These sessions were moderated by the exhibition curator, Paul Paiement (@PaulPaiement). The format allowed for online engagement simultaneously with the interviews, and we had viewers from all over the world. We also made some new friends and enjoyed getting to know our artists better.

The archived and edited Instagram sessions can be viewed on YouTube, and the virtual L.A. Stories exhibition is available at galleries.brenau.edu.
