Registration for Brenau Summer Dance Intensive will open on Dec. 4

The Brenau Summer Dance Intensive is a two-week residential experience focused on developing young artists supported by a rigorous and artistic curriculum. The intensive will culminate in a performance in the beautiful John S. Burd Center for Performing Arts’ Hosch Theater.

  • Learn what to expect in a college-level dance audition.
  • Receive guidance on building a dance resume, CV, and Social Media.
  • Participate in mock auditions and interviews with feedback.
  • Discuss different types of BFA/BA programs and what they offer.
  • Learn how to film a professional audition video.
  • Each participant receives a set of professional headshots and dance photos for their portfolio.
  • Participants will experience and receive professional video recordings from Visceral Film Studios.
  • Learn to work with a photographer and videographer and take direction.
  • Participants will develop skills in posing, using lines, and conveying emotion through a single frame.

Program Eligibility

Please be aware that this program is designed for serious, pre-professional dancers who are currently conditioned and receiving training. All students must be accepted into the program. Acceptance is by audition only. If you’ve attended the program in previous years or have been accepted into Brenau Dance program, you do not need to audition again. You can simply note this during registration.

Age Requirement

Students, ages 15 – 22 years old, may apply to our summer intensive. On-campus housing accommodations are available to students who are at least 15 years old.

Health Requirement

A doctor’s note is not required for auditions or registration. We expect each family to determine the health and safety of the individual student before participating in events. Health questions will be outlined in the registration process.

Auditions

In-Person Auditions

  • Friday, January 30th, 2026
    • Check-in at 1:30 p.m.
    • Auditions 2 p.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Saturday, February 7th, 2026
    • Check-in at 8:30 a.m.
    • Auditions 9 a.m. – 11 a.m.

Additional Audition Locations:
Brenau Dance will be offering program and summer acceptances/scholarships at the Alabama Dance Festival, Regional High School Dance Festival, and Regional Dance Association Festival

Video Auditions

We also accept video submissions. Video auditions will be evaluated for artistic scholarship consideration. Students are expected to present a professional appearance. Loose clothing, sweatpants, skirts, and leg warmers are not permitted. Candidates will be notified via email within 2-4 weeks of their acceptance status.

Video Submissions

Video submissions should be framed as horizontal/landscape. All movement should be executed with the appropriate music. Your video audition will need to include the following:

  • Ballet Barre – pliés, tendus from 5th position, dégagés, rond de jambes, frappés, adagio and grand battements
  • Ballet Center – pirouettes, adagio and petit allegro
  • Jazz or Modern – a combination roughly one minute in length demonstrating turns, jumps and floor work
  • Optional – A short classical variation

Payment Information

Total Cost: $1750.00
All payments are due before the start of your program, or May 30, 2026.

Registration and payments will be handled through ACTIVE. Payments accepted: Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and Electronic Checks are accepted. Payment plans are available. Students receive a t-shirt with seasonal swag and an ID holder with their registration!

Payment Plans

A non-refundable deposit of $150 is due upon registration. You have the opportunity to opt-in to a payment plan to divide the remaining amount due into five payments (schedule below). You also have the ability to log into your ACTIVE account at any time to make a payment toward your balance.

  • Initial Deposit ($150) – Collected at checkout
  • 1st Payment ($320) – December 1, 2025
  • 2nd Payment ($320) – February 1, 2026
  • 3rd Payment ($320) – March 1, 2026
  • 4th Payment ($320) – April 1, 2026
  • 5th Payment ($320) – May 1, 2026

Non-Refundable Registration Fee:
A registration fee of $150.00 is required to reserve your space in the program.

Room & Meal Information:
Residential students receive 3 meals on weekdays and 2 meals on weekends (19 meals total per week). Commuters receive a daily lunch buffet included in the program. All meals take place in our Hopkins Dining Hall.

Important Dates

  • Residential and Commuter Check-In: Saturday, June 6, between 9am – 3:00pm
  • Orientation (required for all students, optional for parents): Saturday, June 6, from 6:45pm – 8:30pm
  • Placements: Sunday, June 7, between 9:00am – 12:30pm
  • Final Performance: Thursday, June 18 at 3:00pm (Open to all Family, Friends, and Guests – $5.00 admission)
