Due to the Winter Storm Warning and Extreme Cold Warning for our area this weekend, all Brenau University campuses are closed Saturday, January 31, and Sunday, February 1. University events also are canceled.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning and an Extreme Cold Warning for our area. Forecasts at this time call for the potential for heavy snow, high winds and bitter cold with wind chills at or below zero. These factors also could cause hazardous road conditions. Gov. Brian Kemp has declared a statewide state of emergency ahead of the storm.
“The safety of students, faculty, staff and the community is the university’s top priority,” Brenau President David L. Barnett said. “I urge everyone to avoid unnecessary travel and to be mindful of the dangerous cold temperatures that are being forecast throughout the weekend.”
On Gainesville’s historic campus, food service will remain open, and security can be reached via phone at 770-534-6202 for any residential students who need assistance. Residential students should talk to their RAs about the weather plan for their residence hall.
This story will be updated as necessary. Additional information also will be provided via Brenau’s social media platforms. Changes in operational status will be sent via e2campus alerts; log in to my.brenau.edu to check your settings and ensure you receive alerts.
