2. File Your FAFSA

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) determines your eligibility for federal financial aid including the Pell Grant, Federal Work Study and loans.*  The FAFSA opens each year on October 1 and you and your parents can file completely online at studentaid.gov.

Filing your FAFSA is the most important way to ensure that you receive as much financial aid as possible, and only takes about 30 minutes to complete. File as soon as you can, because our financial aid office processes files in the order we receive them. That means the sooner your file, the sooner you’ll know your financial aid package. You need to complete the FAFSA every year, so save it on your calendar for Oct. 1!

To share your FAFSA with Brenau, use our school code 001556 in the application

4. Apply for Brenau Aid

Brenau offers a variety of scholarships, grants and awards to undergraduate students. To qualify for Brenau aid, you must be an undergraduate student taking classes on-ground on the Gainesville campus.

5. Receive Your Aid Package & Schedule a Cost Conversation

Once you apply for your financial aid, our team will work as quickly as possible to create your financial aid package. Once complete, you will receive an email notification and a mailed letter and you can view your package in your student portal.

Once you have your package, you should schedule a cost conversation with your admissions counselor. This is the best way to understand everything you need to know to make an informed decision about whether Brenau is right for you.

During your cost conversation you and your counselor will:

  • Go through your costs and financial aid, dollar-by-dollar to make sure you and your family understand exactly what you will owe
  • If you are an in-state student, your counselor will help you understand whether or not you are likely to receive the Brenau Promise for HOPE and Pell Recipients and how this will impact your balance
  • Explain Brenau’s payment plans to you and your family and discuss the benefits of each option
