Field and Clinical Experiences

Welcome to the Brenau’s Office of Clinical Experiences!  During your time in Brenau’s College of Education, you will participate in field experiences and either student teaching or an internship. The Office of Clinical Experiences will secure these placements and arrange supervision for one. We follow the Georgia Professional Standards Commission’s rules for teacher certification.

As you move through your placements, you will experience the grade bands assigned to your major as well as diversity in the settings and with the students you see. These placements are your opportunity to see teachers actually using the theories and strategies you learn about in your courses. They also give you a chance to put into practice what you are learning. As you grow as a teacher candidate, your interaction with students will increase and you will be given more opportunities for participation. Your final placement, student teaching, is for a full semester and includes total responsibility for planning, instruction, assessment, and classroom management.

Information about requesting a field experience and student teaching placement is available on the Clinical Experiences website. For this and other information and to access forms, guides, and other documents, please visit our website by clicking the link below.
