This week, our nation marks a solemn anniversary: the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
For many students, this is an event that they have only studied in history class or heard about from parents and family members. For other students, faculty and staff, however, the memories of that day feel all too recent, making it impossible to believe that 25 years have passed since an event that claimed nearly 3,000 lives and made time stop for us all.
If you visit the Brenau Downtown Center, I encourage you to take a moment to reflect upon the 9/11 Memorial located in the breezeway near the entrance. Its centerpiece bronze plaque honors the victims and first responders of that tragic day.
On Friday, Sept. 11, please join me in pausing for a moment of silence at 8:46 a.m. to remember those who lost their lives in the attacks, as well as those who lost their lives or suffered life-altering health conditions from rendering aid in the aftermath.
