The Brenau Department of Dance will host Days of Dance, an opportunity for high school students to experience the dance program on Oct. 3-4 at the university’s historic Gainesville and East campuses.
The two-day annual workshop features guest teachers, a variety of dance classes, faculty-led workshops, and auditions for scholarships and placement in Brenau’s dance program. Students interested in auditioning must submit the Brenau dance program application at least five days before the event.
“Days of Dance will be an immersive experience for high school students,” Madia Cooper-Ashirifi, Ed.D, MFA, chair of the Department of Dance, said. “The event is open to schools and studios and is an opportunity for students to take classes from Brenau faculty, guest artists Maleek Washington, Xavier Lewis and Casey Noblett. The event will also be an opportunity for prospective students to audition for program acceptance and scholarships. This year, RWS Global, a talent agency that hires for cruise lines and award shows, will also hold auditions.”
Parents and guardians are welcome to attend and participate in sessions with the financial aid and admissions offices.
The final performance, which is free and open to the public, will be at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, in Pearce Auditorium. Auditions will begin at 9 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 4, at East Campus.
Registration is required to attend classes; students can register through this link. Students do not need to register to participate in the Sunday auditions.
