Brenau University students will receive funding to pursue their education here thanks to an annual grant.

The $10,000 grant is funded via the Mexican Consulate as part of the IME Becas program. This is the eighth consecutive year Brenau has been awarded the grant. The grant will be matched with $10,000 from Brenau’s general scholarship fund. The scholarships, which are expected to be awarded during the 2026-27 academic year, will be $2,000 per student recipient per year.

Brenau hosted Consul General Rafael Laveaga and several members of his staff from the Atlanta consulate for a signing ceremony to formalize the grant agreement on Monday, June 22.

Brenau is one of several Georgia colleges and universities to receive IME Becas grants.

The Miller Institute for Global Education, which supports this ongoing scholarship, was established in February 2022 with financial support from Brenau Trustee Pete Miller and his wife, Cathy, to advance the university’s globalization efforts. The institute aims to develop Brenau students who are equipped to meet the changing needs of the community and the world.
