The Brenau University Galleries will host events celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States’ independence.
An event for elementary school students will take place on Thursday, July 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. It will be held in conjunction with the Northeast Georgia History Center.
Participants will attend four workshops, including dance, history, arts and crafting sessions. Following the workshops, a pop-up exhibition will be set up with the pieces produced by the workshop participants.
The workshops will be administered by the Atlanta Historic Dance Society, History Now, Puppetry Arts in Atlanta and the Brenau Galleries.
“We always want to create opportunities to make art accessible for the children in our community,” Lybi Cucurullo, Director of Brenau Galleries, said. “We are excited to work with Northeast Georgia History Center and to bring the community to Brenau through artistic programs.”
The event will be followed by a family celebration after-party, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the history center. There, the public can tour the pop-up exhibition and the youth-juried exhibition featuring middle-school art celebrating the United States.
The event is open to the public, but spaces are limited, and registration is required. Participants can register online here.
Additionally, the opening reception of Celebrating Freedom, an exhibition part of Brenau University’s Norton Family Legacy Art Collection, will be held at Leo Castelli Gallery from 4 to 6 p.m.
The public is invited to the reception, and the exhibition will continue throughout the summer.
