Scholarships to help fund your travel

The Miller Institute for Global Education offers scholarships to help fund students traveling abroad through our Global Education Award. To learn more about the award and apply for a scholarship visit

Monteverde Cloud Forest, Costa Rica

Led by Dr. Jessi Shrout, Brenau undergraduate students explore terrestrial and marine biodiversity in Costa Rica through a collaboration with the Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Preserve. During this experience, students visit sustainable coffee farms, fisheries and the Tropical Agroforestry Institute, and discuss renewable energy, decarbonization and conservation.

Loma Bonita, Panama

Through a partnership with the Panama Ministry of Education, Brenau education students have the opportunity to spend a week in Panama working with teachers, administrators and students from the remote school ESG Loma Bonita.

After returning, Brenau students raised funds to purchase school supplies and computers for Loma Bontia.

Yucatan, Mexico

The Brenau School of Occupational Therapy hosts a yearly trip to the Yucatan as part of HS 550, Global Health Perspectives. You will learn to provide healthcare to underserved communities in the Yucatan, and gain a better understanding of how healthcare systems work in other parts of the world.

Before traveling to the Yucatan, Brenau OT students work with counterparts from the Universidad Autonoma de Yucatan (UADY) to study health care differences across their two cultures and learn from each other.
