Has Brenau revised our protocols regarding COVID-19 exposure?

Brenau University’s COVID Task Force is aware of changes to CDC guidelines on Oct. 21, 2020 regarding the definition of close contact. At this time this change does not impact our protocols. If future changes are made in our protocols, we will inform the Brenau community and changes will be reflected on this site.

When should we anticipate a return to full staffing on campus?

Brenau does not anticipate all faculty and staff being on our campuses until such time that COVID is no longer a community health threat.

Is additional outdoor seating available?

We have added limited outdoor seating. We encourage students, faculty and staff to bring camping type chairs and place them six feet apart outside. Sitting in groups is discouraged. However, outside is much better for distanced discussion and socializing than inside.

Will the Fitness Center be available for extracurricular use?

Aug. 31 is our goal for use other than for classes and athletics. The Fitness Center will be open for students, faculty and staff. It will remain closed to the general public.

Are dining facilities open to students?

Yes, they are. Social distancing is being carefully managed and the number of students in the dining room at any given time is limited. Faculty and staff will not eat in the dining hall, which leaves more space for students. The Tea Room is also open, but also with guidelines for distancing and appropriate numbers.

Yes. Beginning on Aug. 24, the Tea Room will be open 7:30 a.m to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Friday hours will be 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Tea Room will be closed Saturday and Sunday.

It is the host of visitors’ responsibility to ensure that visitors fill out the self-assessment form prior to coming to campus.

If visitors show up unannounced and haven’t filled out the self-assessment or don’t have a mask, what do we do?

You are to ask them to fill out the self-assessment and wear a mask if entering a building. If they do not have a mask, offer them one. If they refuse to comply with these requests, ask them to leave campus.
