I love my professors and the faculty at Brenau. Everybody has an open door policy. It’s not just me, it’s the entire class. We feel like our professors are invested in our success.
Amelia Latham
Brenau has given me a more personal experience than if I decided to go to a bigger college. I know it’s cliche and is used a lot, but I feel like I wouldn’t be seen as much if I went somewhere else. I have a bigger chance of getting that experience.

Brenau has given me my closest friends and allowed me to reassure myself that I lived every moment in college, and I’m not even done yet. I feel like I have such a fulfilling purpose to serve me and to serve others.

Major: Psychology
Extracurriculars: Competitive cheer team, SGA junior class representative, Alpha Chi Omega (two chair positions), Psychology Club philanthropist

What inspired you to transfer to Brenau?

I have done competitive cheerleading since I was in the third grade. In my senior year of high school I had already committed to my previous college, and they hosted a small competition before nationals. Our head coach is really good friends with Bralee (Housworth), the head cheer coach at Brenau. Brenau just happened to be competing, and I thought they were really good, so I followed them throughout these years. Then, I had to find somewhere else to go because my school closed down, and Bralee welcomed me with open arms.

What’s it like being on Brenau’s competitive cheer team?

Since we are so competition driven, it’s like go, go, go, all the time. I can tell why these girls have won two back-to-back national champion titles. They don’t play, practice is serious. We know when to have fun, but we also know when to focus on working for our third consecutive title.

What career path are you taking with your psych degree?

Psychology is really different from most other degrees. It’s really hard to get any practicing jobs with just a bachelor’s, so I do have to pursue my master’s. Then, I have to pursue a little step further and get an EdS degree because I want to be a school psychologist. I still have about six more years of school, but it’s all going to be worth it one day.

What is one thing you want everyone to know about Brenau?

Brenau really is more than just a university, it’s a community. I walk to the Tea Room and Dean Taylor is greeting me by name. Or, Dr. Eck is like, “Oh hey, we just spoke last week in the SGA meeting.” It’s so easy to make important connections here with everybody, even outside your department. And I think that is because of how close-knit the students are as well.

Q&A: Brandon Stover🏈💻
Degree program: MBA in Human Resources Management (online)
Current job title: HR Administrator at Athens Micro

Why Brenau?

I chose Brenau because it has a specific program I wanted, and it was online, which is super convenient. Also, the location, even though I’m an online student, I’m just a short drive away in Athens. So, if I needed support, campus isn’t too far away.

What is it like earning an online degree here?

Although it is online, whether it’s student discussions or Zoom meetings for projects, the professors are super responsive through email. It feels like I’m still a part of the community even though I am in Athens.

How do you intend to use your master’s degree?

I’m actually using the degree right now. Every course that I’ve taken, I’m able to apply to my full-time job. There’s the convenience of being able to do the coursework at night, but then I can also, the next day, apply it to the real world. Every course that I take, whether it’s marketing or finance, I can directly apply to my job.

What do you like to do outside of classes and work?

I’m a husband and a father, so family is really important to me. But, sports is something that me, my two children, and wife love. Go Dawgs, and go Falcons!
