Brenau to celebrate nearly 350 graduates at spring commencement

Three students on graduation day

Brenau University will celebrate its 147th commencement at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 1, at Free Chapel’s Gainesville Campus.

Brenau will confer degrees upon 347 students, including graduates from The Women’s College, the Undergraduate School and the Sidney O. Smith Jr. Graduate School.

“The spring commencement is such a joyful ceremony, in which we recognize over 300 graduates and express gratitude to their family and friends who helped them to achieve this milestone.” James C. Eck, Ph.D., provost and vice president of academic affairs, said. “A college education pays lifelong dividends, and it is exciting to watch our graduates make their impact in the world and within their respective fields of study, in accordance with the Brenau Ideal.”

Kristina Radovic will offer undergraduate student remarks at the ceremony. Radovic earned her bachelor’s degree in finance and was Brenau’s 2025-26 Baxter-Bryan Scholarship recipient. Maya Langdon, a Doctor of Physical Therapy graduate, will offer graduate student remarks.

A Nyansapo Kente Stole Ceremony, hosted by the Black Faculty and Staff Association, will be held ahead of commencement at 4 p.m. on Thursday, April 30, in Whalen Auditorium at the Brenau East Campus. Students will be adorned with graduation stoles featuring the nyansapo, or wisdom knot. The ceremony is open to all graduates and undergraduates; all faculty, staff, and students are welcome to attend.

More information for graduates can be found here. Seating in the Free Chapel is limited to those with tickets. Brenau will stream the ceremony on Brenau’s Vimeo channel for those unable to attend. The event will be streamed live and remain available for viewing after the event.
