Why earn a marketing degree?

If you’re interested in people, creative thinking, problem-solving, and working with data, marketing is the perfect field to bring these skills together. You’ll learn how to identify an audience, decide what motivates them, and build a plan to reach them. Your business courses will also help you understand how marketing decisions affect the rest of an organization, so you’ll be prepared to jump straight into your career.

What you’ll learn

Through coursework and applied assignments, you’ll learn to:

  • Research customers and competitors to guide marketing decisions.
  • Develop marketing plans with a clear audience and purpose.
  • Use social media and digital channels to reach customers.
  • Analyze marketing data and explain what it tells you.
  • Present recommendations in writing and in person to influence organizational decision-making.

What you’ll study

The BBA combines liberal education courses with a business core in subjects such as accounting, economics, finance, and management. Your marketing major includes six courses totaling 18 credits:

  • MK 412 Sales Management
  • MK 414 Consumer Behavior
  • MK 418 Marketing Research
  • MK 457 Social Media and Mobile Marketing
  • MK 462 Marketing Analytics
  • MK 473 Marketing Management

Put your coursework to work

Marketing students have created content for the Georgia Mountain Food Bank and Habitat for Humanity. In sales management, students have also worked on a project for a Canadian company exploring entry into the U.S. market, and you’ll complete HubSpot certifications in selected courses. Projects like these give you practice making recommendations for an organization with an audience to reach and a problem to solve. Partners and projects vary by course and semester, but helping students solve real-world problems is always at the core of what Brenau does.

Is this program right for you?

The BBA in Marketing at Brenau may be a good fit if you’re curious about why people choose certain products, enjoy developing branding ideas, or want to use data to understand what works. It serves students starting college and adults returning to finish a degree or change careers. Your courses give you practice with both creative work and analysis.

Careers in marketing

A marketing degree can prepare you for work in marketing coordination, social media, sales, and market research. With experience, you may pursue management roles in marketing, brand, or product management. Your projects can give you specific work to discuss with potential employers and help you learn which areas of marketing resonate with your own goals.

Why choose Brenau?

Get to know your professors

In small classes, your professors get to know your interests and help you plan your next steps. That might mean discussing internships, preparing for a presentation, or pursuing a research project. At Brenau, your professors care about your goals, and you’ll never be a number in the back of a classroom.

Take an active role in the Marketing Society

Meet professionals through guest speakers, field trips, and workshops. Students also help run the organization, taking on leadership and social media responsibilities that give them practice outside class. Building on the experiential learning in the classroom, the Marketing Society gives interested students even more opportunities to gain real-world experience before graduation.

Explore marketing and AI

The Marketing & AI Lab offers extracurricular opportunities in a student-run marketing agency and marketing research. Participants use traditional marketing methods and AI tools on projects for organizations. Past agency work has included projects for Blue Line Security and the Hall County Farmers Market.
