Accounting decisions affect the whole organization. In your Business Capstone, you’ll use an online business simulation to connect what you’ve learned in accounting, finance, management, and marketing. You’ll analyze strategic challenges and consider how business decisions support an organization’s goals.

Your coursework

Your accounting core includes Intermediate Accounting I and II, Managerial Cost Accounting, and Fraud Examination. You’ll study financial reporting standards, revenue recognition, budgeting, and performance measurement. Fraud Examination covers asset misappropriation, corruption, and fraudulent financial statements, including how suspected fraud is investigated and deterred. Managerial Cost Accounting also includes FMAA exam preparation.

The degree includes a 42-credit business core, 12 credits of accounting major courses, and a six-credit public or managerial accounting pathway. Liberal education, business foundation courses, and any needed electives round out your studies.

Public or managerial accounting: choose your emphasis

Public accounting: Study federal individual income tax, auditing, and assurance services, with attention to internal controls and professional conduct. CPA Review provides access to review coursework and exam preparation; a fee is required.

Managerial accounting: Study ethical decision-making, financial management, planning, and performance. CMA Review provides access to review coursework and exam preparation.

Both pathways include six credits of specialized coursework and a zero-credit, pass/fail review course. You can also explore the other pathway’s subjects through suggested optional electives.

Freshman Admissions Requirements (Online & On-Ground)

  • Successful completion of high school curriculum at a regionally accredited school
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA in core classes (math, science, social studies, foreign language, literature) — not cumulative
  • Brenau does not require SAT or ACT scores to make an admissions decision.
  • All home schooled applicants will be asked to complete an interview.

Transfer Admissions Requirements (Online & On-Ground)

  • Be in good standing with your current or former institutions
  • Have a minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA
