Junior forward Caylie Long joined the Brenau basketball record books by eclipsing the 1,000-point mark for her college career.
The Golden Tigers defeated Columbia College in a 72-68 Appalachian Athletic Conference game on Wednesday.

Long, a native of Powder Springs, Georgia, and a nursing major, attended Hillgrove High School and Cedar Crest College before coming to Brenau. She is the 11th Golden Tiger basketball player to join the 1,000-point club, joining former Brenau greats Autumn Dodson (2014-18), Brittney Wiley (2010-2014), Ashley Hagans (2008-2010), Paige Cooper (2006-10), Sarah Ledford (2006-10), Vicky Wilson (2006-10), Nikki Reed (2009-13), Nyla Moore (2020-2024), and Kalin Williams (2013-2016); her teammate, Anna Gliatta, also reached the mark this season.
In the game against Columbia College, the Golden Tigers’ offense dominated the first half, setting a 33-20 advantage. Columbia made a strong run in the second half to get to a one-point difference with two minutes left in the game. However, the Golden Tigers made foul shots down the stretch to earn the victory.
Long and Kristina Peach each scored 18 points to lead the Golden Tigers, while sophomore Jael Flinn added 12 points.
Brenau (9-13 overall, 4-10 AAC) next hosts Columbia International University (6-14 overall, 4-10 AAC) on Saturday at 2 p.m.
