The Gainesville Theatre Alliance will perform The Play That Goes Wrong from Feb. 13-21 at Brenau University’s Hosch Theatre.

The Gainesville Theatre Alliance is an intercollegiate theater program and partnership between Brenau University and the University of North Georgia.

The play directed by Zechariah Pierce follows opening night at the Cornley Drama Society, and everything that could go wrong—does. The set is collapsing, the actors are forgetting lines, or repeating them, and the corpse won’t stay still. The audience can expect pratfalls, missed cues, and non-stop laughs in this global sensation production.

“It is typically difficult to read plays and get a sense of the hilarity, but this one left all of us rolling on the floor,” Pierce said. “I have found that our community needs more and more reasons to laugh these days, and I desperately want our audience to experience the same joys we have had putting the show together.”

The creative team features scenic design by Larry Cook, costume design by Emmie Tuttle, lighting design by Shelby Ashley, and sound design by Zack Bennett.

A special reception will be held on Friday, Feb. 13, after the opening performance, and catered by Nothing Bundt Cakes.

The Play That Goes Wrong is suitable for all ages and is sponsored by the Gainesville Times.

Tickets for the show are available for purchase now online or at the GTA Box Office on the UNG Gainesville campus. Patrons may purchase single tickets or save 10% with a season package that also includes Into the Woods (April 10-18).
