Located inside the Brenau Downtown Center, the Charles D. Walters Theatre on the Square offers a space for both live performances and other events. It was built in 1978 and can seat up to 299 people. The theatre’s name arose from a generous gift from the late Gainesville businessman and philanthropist James A. “Big Jim” Walters, to honor his younger brother, Charles. The facility is often used by the community for fundraisers, award ceremonies and other gatherings.
