Bachelor of Science in Special Education
Special education is a comprehensive major leading to certification in the area of Special Education General Curriculum of the Georgia Professional Standards Commission. A major in special education leads students to careers in teaching in public school classrooms for students P-12 who have mild disabilities; consulting; or as materials developers for publishers. In addition to all the course requirements, students must pass the Teaching Field Content Exams for academic content area (GACE) prior to placement with a school system to student teach. Education majors must earn a grade of “C” or better in all ED/SE courses and courses in his/her major area of concentration.
