It has been so busy at Brenau University that it hardly seems possible that we are nearing the halfway point of the fall semester. I have enjoyed seeing students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends of the university at many wonderful events this semester.
Our annual Brenau at the Braves Game event was a sell-out with 187 tickets sold. Thank you to the Office of Alumni Engagement for hosting a great event, and to our newest Student Ambassadors for their assistance. Another highlight was Spirit Week, which included an inspiring talk from this semester’s GOLD Series speaker Michelle Gray Haywood, WC ’75, one of the first four Black women to enroll at Brenau. You can find info about other upcoming events via the online events calendar.
Among the events I will be attending this fall and throughout the upcoming year are alumni gatherings in Georgia and across the country. Several have been confirmed, and additional events will be added soon. These events are free, but advance registration is requested:
- Oct. 9 – Denver, Colorado, at Fogo de Chão Steakhouse
- Oct. 25 – Gainesville, Georgia, at The Boathouse on Lake Lanier
- Nov. 17 – St. Simons, Georgia, at the King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort
The Alumni Office also is planning gatherings in Atlanta; Athens, Georgia; Greenville, South Carolina; Nashville, Tennessee; New York City; San Antonio; Tampa, Florida; and Washington, D.C. I encourage all alumni to join me for these events and be sure to share your contact information with the Alumni Office to stay updated on news and events.
As always, I cherish the opportunity to connect with members of our Brenau community, including our wonderful alumni, at events in Gainesville, across the state and around the country.
Thank you to all of our students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends for your continued support and dedication to doing the good work of Brenau.
