Monday, Aug. 26, marked the first day of classes for the 2019 fall semester at Brenau University, and new and returning students are preparing for the year ahead. A few students shared their experience during their downtime Monday on the historic Gainesville campus.

“So far, so good,” Carter said. “I’m taking a 400 level psychology class. That’s the only class I’ve had today, and so far it seems interesting. I’m pretty excited for the rest of the day.”

Daniela Santiago
Daniela Santiago, senior acting major

“I only had one class so I’m doing great right now,” Santiago said. “I’m graduating in December, so this is my last first day. I feel kind of sad. Being in school for so long, it’s kind of surreal, especially since I’ve spent the entire time at Brenau.”

Ashley Jou
Ashley Jou, senior accounting major

“It was hectic,” Jou said. “I love being back with all of the students and my friends. I kind of missed going to class after having so many months off during the summer. Coming back into the swing of seeing everyone and going to classes, it was nice.”

Aisa Goforth

“It has been fun so far,” Goforth said. “I’ve only had one class. It’s nice being familiar with things. I can kind of get a feel for what’s ahead rather than last semester when everything was new.”

“It feels good,” Xu said. “Everyone needs time to get accustomed to the fast pace of classes. It’s a fresh, new year and will be a great semester.”

“It’s pretty good,” Chen said. “I had one class this morning and two more this afternoon. Mondays are busy.”
