The Gainesville Theatre Alliance has announced its 2025-26 season. Four shows will take place from October to April, including two musicals and a performance specifically for young audiences.
The Gainesville Theatre Alliance is an inter-collegiate theater program and partnership between Brenau University and the University of North Georgia.
The first show is Junie B. Jones is Not a Crook from Oct. 3-5 in Pearce Auditorium at Brenau University. This show is part of GTA’s Theatre for Young Audiences program and is sponsored by the Melvin Douglas and Victoria Kay Ivester Foundation.
This playful, heartwarming adventure is based on Barbara Park’s beloved book series. Junie B. Jones has a big problem—someone swiped her brand-new furry mittens. But when she finds a dazzling pen of many colors, is it “finders keepers” or something more? Between playground drama, kindergarten crushes, and tough lessons about right and wrong, Junie B. navigates it all with her usual flair.
Sister Act runs Nov. 7-15 in Hosch Theatre at Brenau University, and is sponsored by Jacobs Media Corp.
When nightclub singer Deloris Van Cartier witnesses a crime, she’s hidden in the last place anyone would look—a convent. Disguised as a nun, Deloris brings her flair for music and mischief to the quiet choir, shaking up the church and the community. With rousing gospel numbers, soulful ballads, and a whole lot of sisterhood, Sister Act is an irresistible musical celebration of friendship, faith, and finding your voice in the unlikeliest of places. This show is recommended for audiences ages 13 and up for mild language, suggestive humor, and adult themes.
The Play That Goes Wrong will take place Feb. 13-21, 2026, in Hosch Theater, and is sponsored by The Gainesville Times.
It’s opening night at the Cornley Drama Society, and everything that could possibly go wrong—does. The set’s collapsing, the actors are forgetting lines (or repeating them), and the corpse won’t stay still. This madcap comedy is a love letter to the chaos of live theatre, where disaster becomes delight and failure is fabulously funny. Expect pratfalls, missed cues, and non-stop laughs in this Olivier Award-winning global sensation. This show is suitable for all ages.
Into the Woods concludes the season April 10-18, 2026, in Ed Cabell Theater at the University of North Georgia – Gainesville campus.
In this imaginative twist on classic fairy tales, a baker and his wife set out to lift a witch’s curse. Along the way, they cross paths with Cinderella, Jack, Little Red Riding Hood, and more. But happily ever after is just the beginning. With a rich score by Stephen Sondheim and a poignant, playful book, Into the Woods explores dreams, choices, and the tangled consequences of desire. This show is recommended for ages 10 and older due to mature themes.
Tickets for each show and season passes are available for purchase now, online or at the GTA Box Office on the UNG Gainesville campus.
