The seventh edition of “Tiger Tales” is underway at Fair Street International Academy in Gainesville, Georgia, with the help of education majors from Brenau University.
Lisa McCoy, assistant professor in the College of Education, and her Brenau students are helping first-graders at Fair Street publish “Tiger Tales,” a book full of their own stories and illustrations. The perfect-bound, hardcover publication is made possible annually through a partnership with Brenau.
Early childhood majors will work with the first-grade students through the spring semester to compile the 2018 edition of “Tiger Tales,” a collection of short stories and drawings featuring Lucile the Tiger. A statue of a tiger named Lucile sits along the Green Street edge of Brenau’s Gainesville campus. It was dedicated in 2013 in honor of Lucile Townsend Pearce, who came to the college as a student in 1897 and remained as a guiding influence for the next half century.
Each Fair Street student will be presented with a copy of the book to keep at the end of the school year.
