Join us for the 4th Annual Speech Competition at Brenau University!
- New this year: Brenau University’s College of Business and Communication is partnering with the Lutzie 43 Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting roadway safety. This year’s theme is “Promoting Leadership for Roadway Safety.” Lutzie 43 is generously sponsoring a grand prize to the top student speaker of the night! Students will have the opportunity to network and learn more about local organizations devoted to roadway safety when the doors open at 5:00 PM.
- You could win cash prize(s) for your wallet and awards that will look great on your resume. Hone your public speaking skills and share wonderful ideas that make a difference with others. Enjoy networking opportunities with the Brenau and Gainesville community.
The deadline to submit an entry is October 29! Please register if you plan to enter the competition and/or attend the competition, then send your recorded speech entry to adeeb1@brenau.edu. Speech entries must align with this year’s theme of “Leadership to Promote Roadway Safety.” We invite 5-7 minute recorded speech submissions, with or without visual aids, until October 29, 2025. Once your recording has been submitted, a panel of Brenau faculty, staff, and students will determine who will advance to the final round. Audience members can watch the competition online, but must pre-register for access to the live Zoom on competition day.
- All students at the high school and college level are invited to submit.
- In honor of the “L” year of Brenau University’s GOLD Experience, which is dedicated to preparing students to be tomorrow’s leaders, we invite speeches related to leadership that promotes roadway safety.
- Competitors in the final round will be invited to campus in-person to deliver their speeches; the best speeches in each age category will receive cash prizes and Brenau swag!
- You must be present at the speech competition in person in order to be eligible to win prizes. This event is hosted by the Department of Communication at Brenau University.
