Georgia Assessment for the Certification of Educators (GACE)

The New GACE website

GACE® assessments are changing! The August 2013 GACE® administration is the final opportunity to pass the current GACE® assessments! If you have not passed all parts of a GACE® assessment, you must do so no later than the August 2013 administration, or START OVER. You will retain credit for any GACE® assessment you have already passed (all parts of the assessment must be passed to retain credit).

ETS will be the supplier for the GACE® assessments (with the exceptions of the Educational Leadership assessment and Professional Pedagogy assessment) beginning October 1, 2013. The Educational Leadership assessment, as well as the three certification upgrade assessments (Curriculum and Instruction, Teacher Leadership, and Instructional Technology) will begin to be offered by ETS in Spring 2014.

Basic Skills Assessment

The Basic Skills Assessment is designed to assess knowledge and skills in the areas of reading, mathematics, and writing. The assessment is composed of three tests-the reading and mathematics tests each consist of selected-response questions; the writing test consists of selected-response questions and a constructed-response assignment.

Content Assessment

The Content Assessments test a variety of content knowledge areas. The middle grades assessments are each a single test that consists of selected-response questions and constructed-response assignments. All other content assessments (early childhood and special education) are composed of two tests-each test consists of selected-response questions and one or more constructed-response assignments.
