Students are placed into their introductory English course based on a hierarchy of placement criteria including ACT/SAT scores, high school GPA and English grades, or GED scores.

In order to place into EH 101 Written Communication, the minimum requirements are:

  • ACT English – 20
  • SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing – 500
  • Students who do not have ACT/SAT scores must have a 3.0 overall high school GPA and a grade of B or higher in the last two English courses
  • GED Reasoning Through Language Arts – 165

Students who do not meet any of the criteria above are placed into EH 100 Academic Reading & Writing.  If the student wishes to seek placement into EH 101, they must take the English placement test.  In order to take the placement test, please contact humanities@brenau.edu to request an access code and instructions.  The Accuplacer placement test is web-based, and requires a $10 fee for virtual proctoring that is paid to the proctoring company.
