Graduate Certificate In Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner

If you are passionate about handling complex patients in an acute and fast-paced setting, the Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Post Master’s Certificate program is made for you. As an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, you will provide care to adults both in the hospital and in specialty clinics like cardiology and pulmonology. You will order and interpret diagnostic tests and develop treatment plans consistent with evidenced-based practice. Hospitals and specialty clinics across the nation are looking for Acute Care Nurse Practitioners to help deliver exceptional care to a growing adult and geriatric population. Working closely with Brenau’s acute care experienced faculty, you will develop advanced diagnostic skills, therapeutic interventions, and collaboration with other health care team members. The acute care curriculum will provide you with in-depth content about pathophysiology and management of complex patient health issues.

This program is a hybrid program with classes both on-ground and online.

Gap Analysis

If you are admitted, we will generate a DRAFT plan of study. Upon acceptance of our offer of admission, you must submit a $200 fee so we can conduct a formal gap analysis to determine your actual plan of study. You will need to submit syllabi and course calendars for each of the courses preliminarily considered transferable. We will conduct a thorough curriculum review to develop a final plan of study and formal gap analysis. In order to complete the AGACNP Post-Master’s Certificate program, Brenau requires a minimum of 500 hours of clinical experience in adult/gerontology and acute care direct patient supervised hours. Part of your Gap analysis will include an analysis of applicable supervised direct care adult/gerontology and/or acute care clinical hours. This draft plan of study will likely be different for every student entering the program.

Clinical

Please be aware that Brenau will need an affiliation agreement with the clinical site where you will be doing your clinical hours. If the clinical site will not enter into a clinical affiliation agreement with Brenau University, or, if you are unable to secure a clinical placement where a clinical affiliation agreement is already in place, you may not be able to start the program. Upon acceptance to the program and completion of the Gap Analysis, Brenau’s Graduate Clinical Coordinator will work with you to help you secure clinical sites and affiliation agreements.
