Dr. James (Jim) Lewis graduated in 1988 from the University of Georgia, majoring in exercise and sports science, and obtaining his certification and license as an athletic trainer. He obtained his Physical Therapy (PT) degree from Georgia State University In 1990. Dr. Lewis holds his license in the state of Georgia and has practiced Physical Therapy for over 30 years in the out-patient setting. His clinical experience includes a focus on musculoskeletal and joint related injury of the extremities and spine including 11 years of experience in clinic management. He completed his DPT degree from Boston University in January of 2007 and began his teaching career in January 2010 as a part time instructor at Georgia State University, transitioning to a full time faculty position in May of 2010. He has been teaching at Brenau University since 2014 and was recently promoted to full professor. His primary teaching focus includes functional anatomy, kinesiology, radiology, musculoskeletal disorders, health promotion & wellness, differential diagnosis, and orthotics. He is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, Applied Prevention and Health Promotion Therapies (Certified), American College of Lifestyle Medicine, and American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine. Research interests include clinical orthopaedic pathologies, health promotion/wellness in all population groups, musculoskeletal use of diagnostic ultrasound in Physical Therapy, and pedagogy in anatomy.
