Jessica Willis completed her master’s degree in Applied Linguistics & ESL at Georgia State University in 2021, and she earned her bachelor’s in Applied Linguistics at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. In 2018, she was awarded an English Teaching Assistantship in Sri Lanka through the Fulbright Program, where she taught young adults.

Her research focuses on the long-term effects of childhood trauma on adult second language acquisition, and the best classroom practices teachers should use for serving these students. She has taught and developed curricula for Georgia State University’s Community-Based English for Academic Purposes courses, as well as English Teacher Training courses in Sri Lanka. She has experience in Natural Language Processing, and she has partnered with various institutions to train computer programs on how to assess non-native written and spoken English. She has been a part of Brenau’s campus since 2021.
