Arielle Crumley is the adjunct instructor of music history and world music appreciation at Brenau University. Dr. Crumley graduated from Brenau in 2014 with a Bachelor’s degree in vocal performance and afterward received a Master’s degree in vocal performance from Georgia Southern University. Throughout her studies, she had the pleasure of performing in numerous operatic roles such as Elizabeth Proctor in Robert Ward’s The Crucible and Zerlina in Mozart’s Don Giovanni.
Although her background is in vocal performance, Dr. Crumley maintains a passion for scholarly research and writing, and she holds a PhD in historical musicology from the University of Georgia. Her research interests include French art song and poetry in fin-de-siècle Paris as well as intersections between music, literature, and gender.
Dr. Crumley lives in Dahlonega with her husband Zachary and their three cats. In addition to teaching, she performs regularly throughout the North Georgia area as a recitalist, church singer, and as a member of the professional women’s ensemble Lux. When she is not teaching, singing, or writing about music, Dr. Crumley spends her time lost in science fiction and fantasy worlds through books and video games.
