Marlene Call, PhD, MPH, RN is an Associate Professor and the Chair of Academic Advancement for the Mary Inez Grindle School of Nursing at Brenau University. She previously served as the ELMSN Program Coordinator (2021–2022) and the Norcross Assessment Coordinator (2022–2023), and before joining Brenau, she was the Assistant Director for the BSN program at Augusta University (2018–2021).
Dr. Call led the development of Thrive 360, a comprehensive student support and onboarding initiative for pre-licensure nursing students that has recently expanded to include Occupational Therapy, making it Brenau’s first interdisciplinary success model of this nature. She also established the School of Nursing’s Student Success Department, co-developing progression and support policies in alignment with university-level retention efforts. Her areas of expertise include pediatric hematology/oncology, epidemiology, medically fragile children, student success infrastructure, simulation design, and NCLEX/testing preparation.
She is active in academic leadership, chairing the Prelicensure Curriculum Committee and Student Success initiatives and facilitating faculty development through learning communities and Lunch & Learn sessions. Dr. Call is a member of the National League for Nursing, Georgia Nurses Association, and Sigma Theta Tau International. Her recent work includes a contributing chapter, Enjoying Learning (Rowman & Littlefield, 2023), and she was a featured speaker at the 2025 Mental Health and Spirituality Summit.
