President Emeritus Ed L. Schrader, who led Brenau University from 2005-19, was honored by Brenau’s Ernest Ledford Grindle Athletics Department at halftime of the Jan. 15 basketball game vs. Columbia International University.

During a ceremony at the center of the Ed L. Schrader Court, Athletic Director Michael Lochstampfor presented Schrader and his wife, Myra, with gifts in honor of last year’s naming of the Schrader Athletic Center.

During the ceremony, Interim President David L. Barnett and Lochstampfor thanked the Schraders for their contributions to Brenau athletics and the university as a whole. The ceremony also included Brenau cheerleaders, HJ the Golden Tiger mascot, and current students.

During the Schrader presidency, Brenau nearly doubled its endowment, increased enrollment and academic program offerings, grew the Permanent Art Collection and expanded its footprint beyond the 55-acre historic campus. While preserving the legacy of Brenau’s Women’s College, Schrader added job-producing, co-educational programs. He grew the programs in health science to offer doctoral degrees in nursing, occupational therapy and physical therapy in addition to a doctorate in education.
