Gliatta eclipses 1,000-point mark

Brenau basketball player holds basketball

Senior guard Anna Gliatta joined the Brenau basketball record books by eclipsing the 1,000-point mark for her career.

Unfortunately, the team came up short in a 68-56 loss to Truett McConnell University on Wednesday.

Gliatta, a native of Cumming, Georgia, and a nursing major, attended North Forsyth High School before coming to Brenau. She is the tenth Golden Tiger basketball player to join the 1,000-point club, joining former Brenau greats Autumn Dodson (2014-18), Brittney Wiley (2010-2014), Ashley Hagans (2008-2010), Paige Cooper (2006-10), Sarah Ledford (2006-10), Vicky Wilson (2006-10), Nikki Reed (2009-13), Nyla Moore (2020-2024), and Kalin Williams (2013-2016).

In the game against Truett McConnell, cold shooting dominated the first half as the Golden Tigers fell behind 36-20 at the break. In the second half, the squad finally found its rhythm, cutting into the Bears’ lead, but were unable to mount the complete comeback.

Gliatta and S.G. Bertolini each scored 9 points to lead the Golden Tigers, while junior Kristina Peach added 8 points.

Brenau (4-7 overall, 0-4 AAC) next plays host to Tennessee Wesleyan (4-4 overall, 3-3 AAC) on Saturday at 2 pm.
