Alumni & Constituent Engagement

brenau alumni, web version
Dear Alumni,

These are challenging times, and I hope you are all well and safe. Through the last nine months of our Listening and Learning events around the country and opportunities for individual contact via emails or telephone calls, it has been my great pleasure to meet and interact with hundreds of you during my time thus far at the university.

As you may know from my recent announcement, Brenau made the decision to move on-campus classes and student support to a virtual learning platform for the rest of the semester in order to protect the community in the face of the COVID-19 crisis. All students will complete their spring classes remotely. This began on March 23. Our dedicated staff and faculty colleagues are now working remotely as well, so Brenau is still open for business, via mail, email, and phone communication.

We all feel the impact of this crisis on campus, and I can only imagine the impact on our alumni family. Know that you and your families remain in our thoughts and prayers every day.

While we announced last week the postponement of Alumnae Reunion Weekend & May Day in April, it is our expectation we will find a way to celebrate at a future date.

Ours is a caring community that values connection, and the fact that we cannot now meet or gather in all of the usual ways makes staying in touch at a distance all the more important. My encouragement is that we stay “socially distanced but in social solidarity.” Our Office of Alumni Relations will be investigating new ways to stay engaged in the weeks ahead.

It is a testament to the generosity and empathy of the Brenau community that so many of you have asked how you can help students during this difficult time. Gifts to the Brenau Annual Fund will support the needs of your alma mater as she navigates through these challenging times. For those wanting to directly help students in need, our Emergency Student Assistance Fund will help meet the current and future needs both this semester and during the academic year ahead. If you would like to help with any of these efforts, please go to our giving site.

I am confident that during this difficult time we will reach out and support one another. Please do not hesitate to contact the Alumni Office or me personally should you have questions or suggestions.

I look forward to staying in touch with you and am truly grateful to be part of Brenau’s extraordinary community.

Best,
Anne A. Skleder, President
