Sophomore Brianna Gutierrez took the unique opportunity to combine her love of Broadway and dance by pursuing a double major in dance and theatre.

“My dream is to choreograph for musicals on Broadway,” she said.

Being part of Brenau’s joint theatre program, Gainesville Theater Alliance (GTA), with the University of North Georgia is helping her to achieve that dream.  GTA is a nationally recognized departmental collaboration that utilizes hands on and individualized training in the program that rivals even some of the largest theatre schools in the country.  This cross-campus union combines an incredible arrangement of performances, classroom and rehearsal including five theaters, multiple costume and prop shops, design labs, rehearsal and dance studios.

“I love that no class is like the next.  You are constantly learning something new and becoming a well rounded artist,” Gutierrez said.

Brenau theatre majors have the opportunity to learn from top-notch professional educators and inspiring guest artists from across the country, to ensure an experience full of opportunity.  Students can earn the following degrees in the theatre program at Brenau:

  • B.F.A. in Acting
  • B.A. in Theatre
  • B.F.A. in Musical Theatre
  • B.F.A. in Theatre Design & Technology
  • B.F.A.in Costuming for Film & Theatre

Brenau’s theatre program is highly competitive and all BFA degrees (Acting, Musical Theatre, Design and Technology) accept only 12 students per academic year.  The Theatre BA program is capped at 20 students per year.  Admission into all programs are by audition and interview.

“The entire faculty put in such an enormous amount of effort for us students.  It is a program worth applying for,” Gutierrez said.
