Celebrating Women’s History Month

Happy Women’s History Month!

Shirley Chisholm, the first black woman to be elected to Congress in 1968 famously said: “If they don’t give you a seat at the table, bring a folding chair.”

As the president of Brenau University, I am so humbled and proud of our institution’s legacy of empowering women not only to bring their own chair, but to build their own table if necessary. Since 1878, we’ve been dedicating ourselves to providing access, education and leadership opportunities to women, and then of course to men.

Regardless of your gender, you’ve chosen to be affiliated with an institution that believes we all have incredible gifts and we’re better when those gifts are shared.

As part of Women’s History Month, one of Brenau’s premier events, the Women’s Leadership Colloquium, is gearing up for March 24. Sponsored by The Women’s College, the event follows our GOLD Program’s “D” year for diversity, inclusion and global perspectives. I am so looking forward to welcoming two amazing alumni and a vice president from Amazon.

As we mark Women’s History Month here at Brenau, I invite you to celebrate our shared history and I encourage you to contribute your talents to Brenau’s shining future.

Regardless of your gender, you’ve chosen to be affiliated with an institution that believes we all have incredible gifts and we’re better when those gifts are shared.
