Melanie Covert, Ph.D., LPC, CPCS

Melanie Covert has been a part of Brenau University since graduating with her master’s in clinical counseling psychology in 2011. She graduated from Kennesaw State University with a bachelor’s in psychology, then went to Georgia State University to earn her Ph.D in sociology focusing on race, urban studies and mental health. She has been a faculty member at multiple universities across Georgia in psychology. Her research interests include mental health, cultural diversity and the practice of teaching.

She is an Associate Professor in the Lynn J. Darby School of Psychology and Adolescent Counseling. She serves as assistant clinic director of the Brenau Center for Counseling and Psychological Services Norcross Campus and the fieldwork coordinator for the MCCP program. She is also the owner and clinical director of a private counseling practice where she trains associate and intern level counselors.
