Brenau students will showcase their artwork during a special exhibition at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta this spring.

The artwork will be on display as part of the annual student exhibition through Jan. 29, 2024, in the Stent Family Wing of the Education Center at the High. A special reception honoring the students is scheduled from 2-4 p.m. Jan. 7, 2024.

“Brenau is full of talented students, and this partnership with the High Museum allows our artists and designers to shine,” Galleries Director Gena Robbins said. “Exhibiting your work is a key component of every artist’s career. This special exhibition not only helps students understand the importance of sharing their talents with the world, but also shows that their work is valuable and impactful.”

A partnership between the museum and Brenau began nearly a dozen years ago, and Brenau is the only college or university with an academic affiliation with the museum. Through the partnership, the High has hosted a similar show featuring Brenau student artwork annually since 2013, except during 2021 and 2022. The Brenau partnership with the High began in 2010 and was renewed in mid-2022, with the special exhibition returning for 2023.

“We have enjoyed a generative, mutually beneficial partnership with Brenau since we began working together in 2010,” Andrew Westover, the High’s Eleanor McDonald Storza director of education, said. “Our staff members collaborate with a new generation of creatives and thinkers, and the university’s students can extend their curriculum through on-site projects at the museum, including this exhibition. We look forward to seeing what they have created for the show and to more wonderful projects in the future.”

Students, faculty and staff wishing to view the exhibition and attend the reception on Jan. 7 are invited to ride the scheduled Brenau bus to the museum. Loading will begin at 12:30 p.m. in the parking lot of theJohn W. Jacobs Jr. Business and Communications Building, and will leave for Atlanta at 1 p.m., returning to campus by 7 p.m. Seating is on a first come, first served basis.
