Eugene Williams, dean of the College of Education, was a Brenau veteran professor before his appointment as dean in 2016. After a nationwide search, Williams was selected in part because of years of experience at the P-20 level and his experience working with Chinese students. Williams helped the university start a long-term 2+2 agreement with Anhui Normal University in China to provide the last two years of undergraduate studies in early childhood education to dozens of Anhui students annually. He was instrumental in developing the preparatory curriculum that those students took at their home university in the first year of the program.

Williams began his Brenau tenure in 2008 and served as both an assistant professor of education and chair of initial certification. Prior to Brenau, he worked for 30 years in K-12 public education as both a classroom instructor and administrator in Georgia schools. He received a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and a Master of Education degree from Albany State University, an Education Specialist degree from Columbus State University and a Doctor of Education degree from the University of Georgia.
