Art is more than just a hobby for you. It’s who you are. As a Brenau Studio Art student, you’ll not only grow your talents, but use them to pursue a career that’s equally as viable as it is meaningful. You’ll be able to try out different art media, while also focusing on a specific area that aligns with your interests. At Brenau, we offer Studio Art concentrations in Graphics and Digital Arts; Drawing and Painting; and Sculpture and Ceramics.

Choose your concentration

Develop a portfolio in Digital Photography, Graphic Design and/or Digital Illustration with Brenau’s Graphics and Digital Arts concentration. You’ll explore different facets of digital media, including animation and motion graphics.

Student opportunities

  • Become proficient in creative graphic design software
  • Design logos, posters, newsletters, etc.
  • Learn the creative and technical use of digital cameras
  • Develop skills in Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, InDesign and Illustrator
  • Implement studio lighting techniques and product photography
  • Have access to state-of-the-art printing and lighting equipment

Hone and develop your skills in a variety of media and develop a compelling portfolio through Brenau’s Drawing and Painting program. You can choose to focus on Drawing, Painting or both.

Student opportunities

  • Learn to draw from observing still life, models and architectural spaces
  • Build and prep canvas frames for painting
  • Grow an understanding for color mixing, composition, use of light sources and other painting techniques
  • Create a personalized portfolio showcasing your knowledge and skills

Grow your skills of manipulating clay, plastic and other materials into works of art with Brenau’s Sculpture and Ceramics program. You can opt to focus in Sculpture, Ceramics or both.

Student opportunities

  • Experience a variety of hand-building processes
  • Gain experience with wheel throwing
  • Receive background on glaze formulation and several firing methods
  • Learn techniques in modeling, carving, assemblage, and basic mold-making and casting
  • Become familiar with significant works by current and historical sculptors
  • Have access to 3-D printers, kilns and other professional equipment
