Bachelor of Arts in Theatre

Whether you want to work behind the scenes or on stage in film, television, theatre or arts education, we have the tools to help you succeed. As a student in the Bachelor of Arts in Theatre program, you’ll have the opportunity to experience all that the theatre has to offer. Brenau’s well-rounded offerings give you the opportunity to sample various aspects of the industry— including directing, performance, design and tech, and dramaturgy —  to see what’s right for you. You’ll have the flexibility to focus on one area of study, or to sample from all four, so when you graduate, you’ll be prepared with the practical skills to thrive in the creative world.

Student opportunities

  • Work on professional-level productions with the Gainesville Theatre Alliance (GTA) starting in your first semester, and apply the skills you’ve learned from across the discipline
  • Study stagecraft, script writing, theatre history, acting and more to build skills for a career in the arts
  • Learn from accomplished theatre professors who are still working in the industry
  • Connect with successful stage managers, actors, directors, playwrights , and other professionals who offer crucial insight into the field 
  • Have the flexibility necessary to double major or minor in another field, compete on an athletic team or become involved on campus in other ways
  • Create theatre for young audiences as a part of WonderQuest, the Gainesville Theatre Alliance for Young Audiences
  • Graduate with the tools you need to compete in the professional market 
  • Gain a well-rounded understanding of the theatre industry that will allow you to succeed in any number of creative careers
  • Focus on the various areas of theatre to become a well-rounded artist

To qualify for a theatre scholarship, you must audition or complete an interview. Brenau holds at least three auditions per year.
