Two faculty members and six graduate students were honored at this academic year’s final undergraduate and graduate school commencements, held on May 5 & 6 in the Georgia Mountain Center and Pearce Auditorium.  It was also the historic graduation of the first Weekend Program class!

The recipient of the Brenau University Outstanding Faculty Member Award was Dr. Barbara Schell, Director of the School of Occupational Therapy and Associate Dean of Health Sciences.  Assistant Professor Krisi Young-Probert of the OT faculty received the Outstanding Part-Time Faculty Award.

The recipients of the Outstanding Occupational Therapy Graduate Student award were Pamela Wilson of the Gainesville-Day program, and Jesse Ausec  from the Norcross-Weekend Program.  The Taylor-Miller Occupational Therapy Award went to Ashley Tolland (Day Program).

The two recipients of the Sara Brayman Scholarship were Lindsey Babcock (2nd year Day Program) and Sara Propes (2nd year Weekend Program).  Stacey Simmons of the weekend graduating class was selected to give the address to the graduates and attendees.   The School of Occupational Therapy, and the College of Health & Science, extend their warmest congratulations to all of these award recipients.

This year also marked an historic event for the OT Department—the graduation of the first class of Weekend graduate students from the Norcross Campus.  Twenty one students of diverse backgrounds and careers came together under a “hybrid” teaching-learning model to pursue OT as their new vocation.  After completing their second full-time internship experience they will sit for the national board exam and make their foray into the field of Occupational Therapy.
