The Brenau University Golden Tigers competition cheerleading team placed No. 8 at the National Cheerleaders Association Championships April 5-8. The Gainesville, Georgia, team scored 88.45 points in the NCA finals – enough to place it in the national top 10 final rankings for the sixth consecutive year.

“The girls were amazing all weekend,” said Head Coach Krista Britt. “We had some adversity to overcome during prelims, but the girls stepped it up and did what they needed to do. I could not be prouder. A top-10 finish for the sixth year in a row exemplifies the strength and competitiveness of our cheer program.”

Brenau University President Ed Schrader congratulated the team and Britt for their continued success.

“With the field becoming increasingly competitive, Coach Britt prepares the team every year to be at the height of its game at nationals,” Schrader said. “This shows her continuing dedication to her students and Brenau. I congratulate all the members of the squad on behalf of the entire Brenau family for their hard work and positive attitude.”

Britt has been the Golden Tigers’ only coach. In its inaugural 2012 season, the Brenau squad finished No. 2 in the nation. Since then, the cheer squad has added a spirit unit as well as a dance unit as varsity sports at Brenau.
