Classes on Brenau´s Gainesville, Norcross, Fairburn and Augusta campuses have been cancelled for Wednesday, Jan. 12, due to continuing hazardous winter weather conditions for commuters. Faculty and staff are urged to report after noon on Wednesday, but only if it is safe for them to do so.

“We know that people are anxious about getting back to their jobs,” said Brenau President Ed Schrader. “But we want them to know that, if it is unsafe for them to travel and if they cannot make it in to work safely, they will not be penalized.”

Scott Briell, senior vice president for enrollment and student services, said that academic calendars for deadlines that occur this week will be adjusted, as necessary, and posted by the Office of the Provost after normal business operations resume.

Some streets near campus remained closed to auto traffic on Tuesday afternoon. Heavy icing remains on roads and highways throughout north Georgia. Conditions are expected to improve slightly on Wednesday morning.

“The kids on campus are just fine, and they’re having a ball,” said Briell. “But we would hate to see any of our employees have an accident because they tried to drive on an unsafe, iced-covered road.”
