Brenau University’s Hayward Wins Conference ‘Swimmer of the Week’ for Third Time This Season

The Appalachian Swimming Conference selected Brenau University freshman Courtney Hayward, as its ‘Swimmer of the Week’ for the third time this season after the freshman from Townsville, Queensland, Australia, led the Golden Tigers to an impressive win over NCAA Division II Converse College Jan. 18.

In the dual meet victory (140-65) against NCAA Converse, Hayward won all four of her individual events. She touched first in the 500 Freestyle (5:10.97), the 200 IM (2:14.92), the 100 Freestyle (55.61), and the 200 Freestyle (1:59.60).

On relays, Hayward split 29.06 on the third-place “B” 200 Medley Relay (2:01.97) and split 26.77 on the third-place “B” 200 Freestyle Relay (1:49.14).

In the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics rankings, Hayward currently ranks first in the 200 Freestyle, 500 Freestyle, 1000 Freestyle, 1650 Freestyle, 200 IM, and 400 IM, fifth in the 200 Butterfly, 13th in the 100 Freestyle and 100 Breaststroke.
